The leading trade fair for high-precision technology
Welcome to the paradise of microtechnology and innovation
For more than 20 years, the EPHJ in Geneva has been the only event in the world to bring together under one roof professionals from high-precision industry and trade in the fields of watchmaking and fine jewellery craftsmanship, microtechnology, and medical technology.
We will be back on the ground again in 2026, giving you an insight into our materials expertise, innovative solutions, and a broad portfolio for demanding applications. You can find us from 16 – 19 June 2026 at Stand D46.
Nickel silver / ARCAP and Niclafor – versatile materials for precision applications
Another area of focus is copper-based alloys such as ARCAP and Niclafor, which belong to the group of nickel silver and alpacca materials.
These materials are specifically used in cases in which a combination of mechanical stability, corrosion resistance and good workability is required – particularly in the micromechanics and watchmaking industries.
Technical properties and benefits:
- Non-magnetic material behaviour: suitable for applications in which magnetic influences must not impair function or precision
- Good mechanical strength: reliable performance even under demanding operating conditions
- High corrosion resistance: resistant to different environments and areas of application
- Very good forming and processing properties: suitable for complex geometries, deep drawing and precise further processing
- Good machining and polishing properties: enables high-quality surfaces for functional and visible components
- Very low lead content (REACH-compliant): suitable for applications with increased regulatory requirements
Depending on the alloy version, properties can be tailored to specific requirements – for example in terms of formability, mechanical strength or area of application.
EcoSi – lead-free alternative for precision applications
EcoSi is a state-of-the-art copper alloy that is specifically used as an alternative to conventional leaded free-cutting alloys.
Combining regulatory compliance with reliable workability, the alloy is particularly suitable for applications in which existing materials need to be replaced without having to make compromises during manufacturing.
Technical properties and benefits:
- Lead-free material solution: complies with current and future environmental and material guidelines
- Good machinability: can be used efficiently in existing manufacturing processes
- Stable mechanical behaviour: suitable for precise and resilient components
- Reliable substitution: enables leaded alloys to be replaced without significant downsides
Typical applications:
- Precision components in the watchmaking industry
- Micromechanics and in other regulated areas
Nitinol – functional properties for complex applications
This alloy supplements the material portfolio in the field of functional high-performance alloys and is used in particular in cases in which conventional metals reach their limits. The nickel/titanium alloy is based on a reversible phase transformation and therefore enables material behaviour that is specifically used for functional precision components.
Technical properties and benefits:
- Superelasticity (up to approx. 8% elongation): high reversible deformability without permanent damage
- Shape memory effect: components return to their original shape after deformation due to temperature change
- Very good fatigue resistance: suitable for applications subject to dynamic loads
- Biocompatibility: perfect for medical technology applications
- Targeted adjustment of the material properties: adaptation by means of precisely coordinated manufacturing processes
Typical applications:
- Stents
- Guide wires
- Implants
- Functional precision components in medical and dental technology as well as in micromechanics
Tailor-made special profiles – precision and flexibility
Another area of expertise we have to offer is customer-specific special profiles for high-precision applications. Among other things, our developments enable:
- Cross-sections from 0.01 mm² to 15 mm²
- Achievable tolerances from ± 0.001 mm
- Various surface and finish variants
Each profile is custom-made according to customer drawings and technical specifications.
In addition to classic metals, we also process demanding materials such as:
- Titanium
- Phynox®
- Nivaflex®
- MP35N
We also process almost all metallic materials – regardless of their mechanical properties.
Properties such as mechanical strength, elasticity, spring behaviour, hardness and ductility can be precisely tailored to the respective application by means of targeted heat treatments and material-related adjustments.
When developing profiles, we flexibly combine different geometries:
- flat surfaces
- rounded surfaces
- convex or concave shapes
Alternative materials and alloys
A wide range of alternatives are available for increasing demands in terms of regulation, performance and functionality:
- Lead-free alloys, e.g. Finemac, brass and nickel silver
- Beryllium-free copper alloys, e.g. ToughMet and other alternatives
- Nickel-free stainless steels with nitrogen content for specific technical requirements
