Sustainability

For the NOTZgroup, sustainability is part of our identity and not a trend. As a responsible industrial and trading company, we play an active role in protecting the environment and society as well as in promoting fair corporate governance.

Our ESG strategy is based on the United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It includes specific objectives, quantifiable measures and long-term commitment along our entire value chain.

We have set ourselves ambitious targets for climate protection: By 2030, we aim to reduce our scopes 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions by 42% – Scientifically founded and validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). Here, we focus on real emission reductions without compensation. We measure our progress annually and develop our strategy on an ongoing basis.

We are continuously improving our energy efficiency – as part of a universal target agreement with the federal government since 2017. Site-related projects such as photovoltaic systems or district heating supplement technical and organisational measures at our plants.

Our responsibility does not stop here. Through targeted supplier management, we act along the entire supply chain, thus complying with our scope 3 targets. Together with our partners, we focus on recycled materials, low-carbon product alternatives and transparent environmental standards.

For us, the circular economy is not just a buzzword - it is a lived practice.The metal industry is ideally suited to the circular economy, as metals can be recycled an infinite number of times without any loss of quality. This enables resources to be reused sustainably and significantly reduces the need for primary raw materials. We recycle metals, work with reusable spools, rely on recyclable packaging and develop new ideas for using production waste. Resource conservation is essential for environmental protection. By reducing water consumption and closed water cycles, valuable resources are conserved. Advanced technologies ensure air quality, while intelligent waste management reduces waste and promotes recycling.

Social responsibility is a key component of our corporate culture. We are committed to equal pay, support our employees through further training and make targeted investments in training young talent. Our goal: a safe, healthy and appreciative working environment for everyone. 

We are also committed to clear principles in our corporate management: Our Code of Conduct reflects our legal Group responsibility – whether as a consequence of international standards such as those of the ILO or of the Ordinance 964j on Due Diligence in the Supply Chain. We conduct ESG risk assessments in the supply chain, embrace transparency in the responsible sourcing of conflict minerals, and train our employees in cybersecurity.
