New construction of Mannenberg reservoir

After more than 100 years of operation, the Mannenberg reservoir in Ittigen has been completely replaced. With a storage volume of 30,000 m³, the new structure is the largest water reservoir in the Canton of Bern and forms the backbone of the drinking water supply for around 300,000 people in the Bern region.

With our high-quality stainless steel components, we were able to make an important contribution to the drinking water infrastructure. Welded pipes, bends and smooth flanges made of stainless steel grade 1.4404 (AISI 316L) in the dimensions DN 300–900 were used.

The material used guarantees high corrosion resistance, chemical stability and mechanical strength – key requirements for components used in the drinking water supply.

Thanks to their precise manufacturing and material-appropriate design, the components meet the stringent requirements in terms of tightness, pressure resistance and long-term behaviour in operation. In doing so, they make a significant contribution to ensuring the security of supply and operational efficiency of the new reservoir for decades to come.

The Mannenberg reservoir project is a prime example of how high-quality materials, state-of-the-art manufacturing technology and interdisciplinary collaboration enable a sustainable and secure water supply.
