Material expertise for the precision engineering industry

The entire microtechnology "ecosystem" in one place

The international precision engineering industry will meet at SIAMS in the Forum de l’Arc in Moutier from 21 to 24 April 2026. The trade fair is a key place for companies from the microtechnology, free cutting steel and precision manufacturing sectors to meet and brings together the entire industrial value chain – from materials and semi-finished products to high-precision manufacturing solutions.

We will be there and presenting our wide range of products, innovations, expertise and industry-leading solutions at SIAMS 2026. The focus of our trade fair appearance is on face-to-face discussions about materials, material solutions and technical applications in the precision engineering industry.

Our experts will provide insights into current developments and our wide range of materials. These include materials and alloys for applications in:

  • Micromechanics and free cutting steel
  • Watchmaking industry
  • Medical technology
  • Electrical contact technology (connector technology)

New low-lead copper-beryllium alloy: CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™

A current example of material-related developments is the CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™ alloy by Materion – and Lamineries MATTHEY will be providing information about this at SIAMS.

It is a low-lead copper-beryllium alloy that complies with the requirements of the RoHS Directive (Pb ≤ 1000 ppm) and is available both as a bar material and as a wire.

The alloy can be hardened by age hardening and offers mechanical properties and workability comparable to the well-known alloy M25 (CuBe2Pb2).

Key properties of CuBe2 Emery Low Lead™:

  • Compliant with RoHS (lead < 1000 ppm)
  • Very good machinability, comparable to alloy M25
  • High hardness and mechanical strength
  • Suitable for applications in connector technology, e.g. turned contact parts
  • Interesting alternative for precision components in the watchmaking industry

The alloy therefore opens up new possibilities for low-lead or lead-free applications, without compromising on performance and workability.

Tailor-made special profiles – precision and flexibility

Another area of expertise we have to offer is customer-specific special profiles for high-precision applications. Among other things, our developments enable:

  • Cross-sections from 0.01 mm² to 15 mm²
  • Achievable tolerances from ± 0.001 mm
  • Various surface and finish variants

Each profile is custom-made according to customer drawings and technical specifications.

In addition to classic metals, we also process demanding materials such as:

  • Titanium
  • Phynox®
  • Nivaflex®
  • MP35N

We also process almost all metallic materials – regardless of their mechanical properties.

Properties such as mechanical strength, elasticity, spring behaviour, hardness and ductility can be precisely tailored to the respective application by means of targeted heat treatments and material-related adjustments.

When developing profiles, we flexibly combine different geometries:

  • flat surfaces
  • rounded surfaces
  • convex or concave shapes
